The Truly Wise & Sensible Persons

It may not only be this time of the church year (between the end of church calendar year and the first two weeks of advent) that we are being called to readiness/preparedness to the end of our time here on earth. There are even some other Christian groups (non-Catholic Christians) that have been persuading people on the streets and everywhere to join them. Basically they persuade people based on their understanding that the end of time is near while at the same time convincing people that each one can only be saved by joining them. Some other groups even prophesy a specific date of the year.

We, Catholics in fact are similarly called to conversion of heart without delay. for we do not know when Jesus comes again. Some others may put their understanding in a way that each one`s final destination will depend on our preparedness, This readiness or preparedness most likely can be narrowed down on how one has well-lived on earth, and on how we have been wise in dealing with Christian living.

With the Parable of the Ten Virgins in our Gospel reading today, we are invited to reflect on how is it to be truly wise and sensible persons against our tendency to stupidity/foolishness. More than what being wise this modern world implies especially when it comes to human relationships, status building, & security in the society, a truly wise person in Christian living means living each day in accordance to the vision of Jesus. A truly wise person gets familiar with the presence and face of Jesus each day by constantly seeing and recognizing Him in the eyes of people in need, of those who hunger and thirst in many ways, and voiceless in the society.

It may not be so easy to determine what exactly makes a person truly wise, and what exactly makes one stupid. May the Holy Spirit always grant us proper & good judgment for us to see what things are really important among many other things we have considered important up to this day. Nobody cannot just represent us, simply and immediately say “yes” to Jesus on our behalf while we remain cold, halfhearted, and lazy in discovering the message of the Gospel. We believe in the power of praying for each other though, so that each one will be freed from stupidity, so in God`s time will all be worthy recipient of Heavenly Kingdom.
