The baptism that took place in the Jordan River clarifies some things that we are all called to sincerely understand, recognize, and carry-out. Jesus identifies Himself with the humanity through His own Baptism. The foundation of our individual baptism therefore is founded in Jesus` Baptism. He however is without sin and maintained His Divinity while pursuing the work of Salvation for the humanity. We are called to at least try to identify ourselves to Jesus amidst anxieties and temptations that this world brings.
Jesus` Baptism at the river Jordan also talks about our calling to submit ourselves to the Will of the Heavenly Father. The Baptism of Jesus means submission of Himself to God`s saving plan to the humanity. Indeed, the Baptism of Christ expresses the tolerance and acceptance of what will happen in order to fulfill the work of salvation or the promise of salvation.
Christ's baptism in the Jordan River is what tightly connects us all to Him. We are baptized through water and through the Holy Spirit expressing too our resolve to participate in the ongoing saving plan of God to the humanity. Our individual baptism is our daily life`s new beginning. Just as His Baptism at the river Jordan is well understood as the beginning of His Galilean Ministry, our participation to evangelize people started when we were baptized.
