February 11, 2024 ・ Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

Genesis 3.16-19 Ps.32.5, 10+11 1Cor.10.31-11.1 Mark 1.40-45

In some times in Jesus's preaching and healing ministry we notice that in His confrontation with the person being healed He would directly say that the person's faith has saved the person. Putting it in other words, we can say here that the person's trust in Jesus is taking a big part in healing. With this proposition, we can immediately conclude that when there is no faith and trust, healing may not occur.

We have been reflecting at least two major themes since we have entered the ordinary time season in our church calendar. Since today is the last Sunday of this season, we will try to enumerate these two major themes again. We have allotted time in reflecting on our individual and common vocation. "God calls and we respond," is the first major theme. The 12 disciples of Jesus were called while He (Jesus) was in His active ministry. We must remember that a first and big part of his healing ministry happened in Galilee. I think we are able to follow well on the Jesus has been telling people about the compassion and healing. power of God, as well as each one's faith and trust so that healing will occur. Several times Jesus performed healing activities upon knowing the faith and trust of the person to be healed. These healing ministry of Jesus is another major theme we have considered so far. A similar theme will continue as we enter the Lenten season on Ash Wednesday this week.

Even just for today we pray for our sick brothers and sisters. Today is Feb. 11, from few years back we also have been asking the intercession of our Lady of Lourdes for our sick brothers and sisters. Let's continue to visit the sick, give them some words and encouragement, and continue to pray for them for their fast recovery. We have some members in our parish community who are sick due to old age, with family inherited sickness, and who met accidents. We ask the intercessions of our favorite Saints like Saint Martin de Porres, who in his lifetime on earth devoted himself in caring for the sick so that he also became. in our Church a patron also for the sick.

We have the greatest healer who is Jesus. It is through Him and from Him that healing occurs.
