John 15.9-17

The point of last week`s reflection dealt on the fruitfulness/productivity of each one of us believers especially of those who are truly connected to Jesus, We have learnt that Jesus is the Vine with whom we are connected. We must then always remember that the more Jesus introduces Himself to us, and the more He explains to us the depth of His relationship with us and with each one of us, He clearly expresses the kind of love that binds us to Him. We simply conclude that the love of God is binding. The readings of the 6th Sunday of Easter specify this love that binds us all. We are all called to always live and interact in the light of God`s love. We were guided in our previous reflections (sharings) that living in the light of God`s love must be felt and must be seen through actions more than empty words.

We learn from our first reading today that Peter talks about the truth of the inclusivity of God`s love The word of God, and His love is for all. Those people who listen to the Word of God receive the gift(s) of the Holy Spirit. The Gentiles, who were once unbelievers, received the same gifts of the Holy Spirit, and were baptized.

Let the outpouring of the Holy Spirit continue to happen. We can, by speaking, like Peter, of the truth of God`s love and of the promise of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit In this manner, each one of us will be able to surpass the things we usually cannot, and so better live and interact with each other only in God`s love. We can find from the first letter of John the kind of love we are eyeing for, Love that originates from God.

Jesus considers us all as friends, not slaves. In His overflowing love, He has considered us that far. Indeed, He keeps on introducing Himself to us all most especially in times we forget Who He is. He keeps on telling us all, the best way of living. That`s what friends are for. Let us all then be true friends too, so we do not undermine people, and consider anyone less than human being than us.
